India and Sierra Leone sign six agreements for cooperation in various fields in the presence of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and the President of the host nation Julius Maada Bio.

On the second leg of his visit to two African nations, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu is in Sierra Leon. During his visit the Vice president had a productive meet with Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, at the State House in Freetown on Sunday.

The Vice President also participated in the delegation level talks. India and Sierra Leone signed 6 agreements to expand the bilateral relations in various fields and also agreed to push for UNSC reforms so that one-third of mankind residing in Africa and India occupy their rightful place in decision making bodies of the UN.

India announced the decision to establish a High Commission in Sierra Leone, even as both the countries have agreed to enhance cooperation in agriculture, food processing, Information Technology, infrastructure development and capacity building.

Later addressing the Indian Community in Freetown, the Vice President said that the Indian community in Sierra Leone has been playing an important role in promoting bilateral ties & creating opportunities for the local economy.
